Jenny Mun: Health Information Manager, Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

After being a dental technician for 5 years, I decided to pursue a degree which would enable me to broaden my career choices in the health industry. I chose to study Health Information Management at Curtin University because it combined all the disciplines that I was interested in. I thoroughly enjoyed my undergraduate years and later found that the practical assignments had prepared me for my intended career in health administration.

After graduating in 1995, I worked in various HIM roles based in both public and private hospitals' medical record department. Upon relocating to Canberra in the ACT, I had the opportunity to work in more challenging roles in the field of data management. The combination of my practical hospital experience, along with the theoretical knowledge of data collection systems gained from my undergraduate degree enabled me to make a significant contribution to the management of data systems at the hospital level and at the jurisdictional level.
